Life’s Not Fair

Watching this video of John Kerry getting heckled by a fellow leftist somewhat made my day (Caution: Video not work safe.)

In a nutshell, this guy seems mad at John Kerry for not being good enough during the 2004 election. He shoots out questions rapid fire with some nasty attitude involved, he stays at the mike for longer than he’s supposed to and he’s surprised that the police are removing him from the building after he’s basically heckled John Kerry. Ok, so that’s cool. They removed him on charges that he was stirring up a riot, and personally I don’t care what he says. You start heckling like that in a crowd to the speaker, you’re going to start a riot if you don’t stop. Plain and simple. On the other hand, TAZERING the guy for doing what he did is a bit on the harsh side, dontcha think?

Now you’ve seen how things are dealt with at that school, let’s see how things are dealt with at my school, the prestigious San Francisco State. Last week, the College Republicans and Democrats hosted an event to commemorate 9/11. Look at who decided to crash the party (Warning: Not Work Safe):

And there were no arrests, no people getting kicked off campus, nothing. Even though the police attend these events, it doesn’t seem like they’re that close in on the action. So basically, you heckle a Democrat at one school, they zap you like you were cancer. You heckle Republicans AND Democrats ten times over at another school, stomp the flag and do everything but attack them, the cops don’t touch you with a ten inch pole. It’s your freedom of speech, maaaan.

9/11 Memorial Uncut

These are some other juicy vids contributed by the folks who attended the event. The bald guy with the speech impediment shouting down the Communist with the glasses on is Nathaniel Jones, a student at SFSU with some mental issues. Listening to him here, he sounds like a radical Republican. One thing you won’t see in these videos is him verbally attacking Leigh, the College Republicans president after telling the Communists that he loved them (I’m a witness.) And he claims to be one of us himself. Shame.

Say, someone get me the number of that cute redhead.

Boy, do I love the altercations at my school.

Tape Sleeper

During my senior year in high school, I was part of a Drama class that had been there for four years straight. On the very last day of class, I did something rather stupid of me. While sitting on stage in a circle, I got the strangest urge to peel stage tape off the floor and stick it to my face. Then I got the urge to take a little nap. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t wake up again until class was over and by that time, the tape adhesive had stuck hard enough that my face was sticky for the rest of the day.

Now that you’ve been blessed with the wisdom of my memoirs, you can see why I feel the comfort in never having been like this guy:

I have been redeemed.

Chop Chop

This guy picked the wrong place on the wrong day for a robbery:

BOGOTA (AFP) - A feckless stick-up man chose the wrong target when he was beaten and hospitalized in an attempted robbery of a karate school in Bucaramanga in northwestern Colombia, police said.

"The man entered the academy with a firearm, but could not intimidate the dozens of students, who fortunately reacted and disarmed him," said Colonel Julio Cesar Santoyo, police commander in the province of Santander.

Police arrived at the scene only to take the would-be robber to hospital for treatment of multiple contusions at the hands of the karate students.

Did this guy really think he could get away with this kind of thing at a karate school? I wouldn’t be surprised if he was part of today’s lesson.

Back To School

Wow, it’s been incredibly long since I last posted. That would be probably due to the fact that contrary to popular belief, a lot of things have been going through my head. So I’ll give you all a bit of an update.

First off, like the title says, I have returned to San Francisco State for another wonderful semester of disguised socialist indoctrination, also known as Cinema Studies. I kid you not, folks. I’ve been back only two weeks and the far left teaching has begun. Last week, during my first class of Third Cinema, my professor told the class that Americans drive the world crazy by working too hard and making too much progress. This week, she told us that anyone who thinks that there’s a connection between WWII and the Iraq War has no sense of history. Perhaps she should watch a certain documentary called “Obsession,” then see if she can say the same about the War on Terror as a whole.

The same will undoubtedly go for my Critical Studies teacher. The man who told the class last semester that America deserved 9/11 has returned from his paternity leave to teach us the wonders of interpreting a Michael Moore documentary. Not yet, though, but it seems to be written in the syllabus that “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Bowling for Columbine” are in our viewing schedule. So the only other teacher I have seems to have made the wise decision of keeping her politics out of the curriculum. That is, until today when a student brought up “Sicko.”

Let me clarify something. I’ve paid thousands of dollars to go to this college and get my education on the subject of film. I didn’t pay to listen to any professors talk about their personal politics. So perhaps my Third Cinema teacher, whose WWII and Iraq War assertions have nothing to do with cinema whatsoever, should consider putting a footnote on her next class description saying that we can listen to her say stupid things in front of class as an added bonus to the curriculum. If not, then they should probably aim to not talk about politics unless they’re out of the classroom. I’m all for free speech, folks, but seriously there are times when you can discuss certain things and times when you shouldn’t. This is one of the latter cases, because I actually feel like my money’s being wasted here.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, I’ll continue with some good news… for me at least. I caught up with the “San Francisco College Republicans” on campus during the first week of school and now I’m hanging with one of the coolest clubs on campus. Hopefully for the res of the semester. It feels good to sort of have a community of folks on campus who at least agree with me on some things. And on top of that, I’m back on the dating game, so some of the girls in the club can probably look forward to grabbing lunch with me in the future. Wink, wink.

Just yesterday, the College Republicans held a “Free Speech Day” on campus. On this day, any student was allowed to come up to the mike and say whatever they wanted, whatever was on their mind. Some folks used this opportunity to bash capitalism, promote socialism, read strange poetry, speak out against school officials, protest free speech, protest using the death penalty on murderers and even call the event a hoax… despite the fact that the event was obviously serving it’s purpose to let everyone speak. The best part was when Leigh, the club president, demanded a transcript of pricings to see how our tuition money was being spent after some of the bigwigs on campus used it to buy nice, new $12,000 laptops. The aforementioned people were called out to tell everyone about how their money was being spent, but they just stood there and watched. Some woman from the student government came out and told Leigh he should be ashamed for criticizing the school board, but failed to answer any of his accusations.

And on that note, I’ll leave the political hoo-hah to tell about my own Free Speech announcement. Yesterday, I went up and proudly announced to the school that I am now the PROUD UNCLE of a six month old baby girl named Bridget! Yes, proud I am. Just another event in my life that’s been going through my head lately. Wow, I’m an uncle now! And if that’s not enough, my cousin just gave birth to her baby boy Rylan last week! I’m an uncle and an uncle-cousin, if that works as a title for me. Our family is just getting bigger all the time!

So that being said, I’m off to a good start at San Francisco State. This fall, I’ll be working on some bigger and better film projects, which I’ll announce at my own leisure. “Gangster’s Guilt” still needs to find a showing somewhere and some distribution, but when that occurs, I’ll make sure to post about that too.

UPDATE 9/10:
It appears that I was wrong about the laptop prices. As it turns out, the laptops were $1,000 each for 12 people only, totaling up to $12,000 plus tax. Still a lot of money and I wonder why they felt that they needed it when the computers at school all seem to be in good shape. And I myself am still curious as to what else they spend it on.
