Unleashed

It’s a bit late for me to be reporting this, but a few weeks ago, a brand new Sonic game was announced for the Wii and other systems. It’s called “Sonic Unleashed” and it’s due out this winter. All that’s known about this title is that it sports a unique gameplay they call the “hedgehog engine,” which smoothly transitions in between 3D and sidescroller gameplay and that it features a new side of Sonic we haven’t seen before. Watch this teaser to see what I mean:

Dang. That’s some crazy looking blue werewolf thing there. I wonder who it could be. Maybe it’s the result of Sonic having his DNA spliced together with that of Sulley from “Monsters Inc.” Or perhaps…Whoa, this is gnarly.

I got the above image from “The Sonic Factory.” The hulking figure in the background is Sonic in his new form in the game, being dubbed “Werehog” or “WereSonic.” So far, it looks crazy, awesome, and I’d like to know what new powers this new form has or what caused it to happen. Looks like it could be the old new-powers-contracted-from-machine-transformation deal again. But I would like to know what else the game has to offer. Are we going to be able to play as other characters in the series? Will we see a WereTails, a WereKnuckles or a WereShadow? Does Amy Rose, in her ongoing pursuit for Sonic’s heart, turn herself into WereAmy just to try and please him?

As you can see, there’s a lot of questions I have before I even consider buying this game as cool as it looks. I thought “Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games” was a cool idea, but then I thought it might be more interesting to have a battle royale between characters of both universes as opposed to have them compete in swimming events. I guess my hunch was right as the game apparently sucked. So I just guess I’ll have to wait on this one and hope that it turns out to be something more in line with what they did for the “Sonic Adventure” storylines, aka something better.

Jihad Watched

So this is the movie that’s gotten Muslims completely stirred up in Europe. Geert Wilders, a politician in Europe, recently made a short documentary called Fitna which supposedly exposes the religion of Islam by showing passages from the Quran alongside images and video of violence and hate speech from Muslim extremists that supposedly goes along with these passages. And in my opinion, they seem to fit the bill…forest the most part. I’ll get back to that in a bit.

If you want to watch Fitna, the whole short film can be watched here, online for free and no signups required. The film is not work safe at all and be sure to have 15 minutes put aside if you plan to watch the whole thing.

Now for the backlash. Critics everywhere have either praised this movie for showing the truth or bashed it for misrepresenting the Muslim faith. You can find one particular debunking here, courtesy of ABC, to see how one particular Muslim interprets the Quran passages used in the film in a more peaceful manner.

I like to take everything into account when it comes to matters like this, so for the sake of argument, I’m posting links to both the video and one particular debunking. But on top of that, I’d like to note Dr. Robert Spencer again for his work and research on Islam and the radical extremists that take up only a small percentage of the worldwide Muslim population. He runs the website Jihad Watch, which the movie Fitna can be seen on in the above link and I’ve been reading his stuff for some time. The debunking I’ve linked to here is one interpretation of the Quran, but don’t think that other people out there haven’t got another interpretation.

Watch, read and think.

Dead Issue

I am quite surprised to log onto Google this morning to find out a jury ruling has just declared Princess Diana’s death being the cause of the reckless driver and the paparazzis. Oh, that recently? This was an event that happened ten years ago, yet for some reason people still feel the need to bring it up and argue the cause of her death. I thought it was taken care of years ago, but even as I write this, I know that people are still going to be arguing it ten years down the line.

Last time, the verdict was pretty much the same ruling, but I’ve actually run into at least one person who believes that for some reason Princess Diana’s death was part of a conspiracy from the royal family. On a similar note, I believe that Elvis is still alive and that the first moon landing was faked. Come on, people, get real. She’s been dead for ten plus years. Let her soul rest in peace.
