Grossing budget

What do I not like about Hollywood? This:

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/the%20who.s%20tommy%20to%20become%20most%20expensive%20animation

"THE WHO's celebrated rock-opera TOMMY is to become the most expensive animated movie of all time.

GREASE producer ROBERT STIGWOOD plans to turn the 1975 PETE TOWNSHEND movie into a $400 million (GBP210 million) cartoon, which is tipped to feature the voices of singers ROBBIE WILLIAMS and BONO.

Stigwood, 70, says, "Pete Townshend is right behind this.
"It will feature the biggest names in the music industry. The original movie costs $3-4 million but this will cost $300-400 million.

"If you are going to do it, you've got to do it right."

If you want to do it right, first you've got to take that 400 million dollar budget and cut it into eighths. That way, you can keep one or two of those eighths for the production and give the other 300 million to tsunami aide. Honestly, why do we have these big budget projects that p[eople just aren't likely to care about at all? $400 million is the biggest proposed budget for a friggin' movie I've ever heard of and will definitely cause the company making the movie a greater loss of profit than any other movie in existence. Even if it does have "The Who" in it.

True Hollywood Glamour

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050125/D87R5NS01.html

Check the link above. Looks like "Fahrenheit 9/11" was booted from the academy awards. Meanwhile, "The Passion of the Christ" has been awarded a few deserving nominations itself. The only way things could get any better for me is if "Passion" winds up nabbing some of these awards. Go Hollywood!

Back 2 School

It's been a while, so I figured I'd update. I started going back to college yesterday for the new semester. This year, I'm taking Yoga, European Art, Anthropology Lab, Philosophy and Intercultural communications. The Anthro Lab I hope not to fail again, or come so close to failing that I have to drop out. As for the load, it's actually pretty slim so far. I'm enjoying it.

As for my New Year's Resolution of finally getting a girlfriend, I'm looking to improve upon that situation by checking out all the hot girls in my classes that I can. So far, the only girl who has talked to me has been diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome, epilepcy, asthma, paranoia and a number of other things she told me about. I think she was the same person who told me not to hang up a poster for my drama directing class a year ago over a certain set of chairs and instead suggested another set of chairs to set it over. Yippee. At least she's friendly.

As for the other girls, there are so many hotties to choose from. Funny though because I just discovered that a female friend of mine who's attending my church is a conservative. That was all I really needed though to get interested in her.

I will get a girlfriend this semester by hook or crook. But in the meantime, I'm going to find a time to enjoy these discount paintballing tickets I bought today. A 40 dollar ticket for the price of 5 bucks. Woohoo!

It’s your Duty

I’ve been in the Sonic Fandom for over ten years. I started when I was eight, playing the games and reading the first of the comic series. I even frequently slept over at a friend’s house anticipating the watching of the cartoon show the next morning because we didn’t have TV at home. That and Mighty Max, mostly. At age twenty, I’ve subscribed to the comic series for five to six years now. I watched as the comic series had its ups and down and read the comical reviews by middle-aged Sonic fan Dan Drazen.

The trouble with the comic though is that it’s seen a lot of downsides lately. I’d have to agree with Dan Drazen on one thing. Last summer, a new team with a new art style and new character attitudes appeared. As with every time that this sort of thing happens, this meant trouble. Fortunately, this team, as all the others do, only appears once every couple of issues. But when they do… ugh, they don’t know what they’re doing. The characters look like dorky anime inspired bastard children and they don’t behave with the level of grace that the other teams gave them.

It was also this team that, several months ago, started a conflict between the two lead characters, Sonic and Sally, that ultimately led into them breaking up. It’s surefire that they will eventually wind up together again though, because they end up married in the future stories, but right now they don’t act like themselves. Sally, who for so long was a tough leader and the brains and beauty of the bunch, now fears for Sonic’s well-being and wants him to stop being a hero.

Whatever happened to the brave female lead that graced this comic for so long? Obviously, the brains behind the comic are lacking the creative integrity of their predecessors. When this happens, the comic winds up sucking. Pure and simple.

In this month’s issue #144, the hackjob tag team has returned for another session of raping the comic of the beauty it once had. By now though, I’m somewhat used to it and I found the majority of characters finally acting in character. Perhaps they got one of their better writers for this issue? Except at the end of this issue, Sally winds up explaining her behavior. It’s not the new writers who don’t seem to know what they’re doing, but the fact that Sally feels that as future queen, she feels her duty should first be to her people, then to Sonic. She still loves him, but loves her people even more.

While this does explain her priorities properly, it doesn’t explain her suddenly not wanting Sonic to endanger himself for the sake of his people. Although he did disappear for a year in a recent story arc and everyone thought he was dead, that sort of thing has happened a million times before in the comic. It’s not enough to explain her sudden change in behavior.

It’s this sort of thing that make dedicated readers such as Drazen promise to not continue subscribing to this comic. Thus, I beg of the authors to fire the schmuck artists that are convoluting my eyes with their crappy art and squeeze some balls in the story section. If you want this comic to live, please do something.

Boxer down for the count.

I heard about Barbera Boxer recently and her mission to challenge Congress about the Ohio votes simply because there's no way on Earth that Bush could have won a second election. Yunno, I recall that about two months ago on November 2nd, I got my ballot and saw a little box on it with the name Barbera Boxer on it for Senator. If memory serves, I checked that little box because I didn't know any other candidates on there and I heard that Boxer was one of the good guys. Now, I realize that the only thing I really know about her is that she can't take losing the presidential election to Bush. Thus, I no longer feel so good about that checking that little box.

Now it is given that I could think of a lot of things I don't like about Bush, but I still voted for him because I believe that the good outweighs the bad. In Boxer's case, I only know one thing about her and it ain't good. And since first impressions matter to an extent, I'm going to put her in limbo on my list of good or bad judgment.

Wipeout 2004

I saw the satellite photos of the tsunami attacked cities in China and all the other places. Un-fucking-believable. And we thought 9/11 was bad. If I found out that anyone that fits within a tax bracket isn't donating money to thne relief cause through a trusted organization, I'm going to hunt them down and personally removing the stick from their ass.

This is CNN

I meant to blog on this one yesterday because I spent yesterday working on the computer while listening to CNN. You know, I always hear people in Marin complain about how Fox News is evil with all their right-wing bias, but they never complain about how CNN is so GOD AWFUL BORING! Can't they come up with a new batch of subjects after a couple of hours? I swear, it was like they put stuff on a playlist and set it to constantly repeat so that they could go out to lunch for the whole day. Now, I know that's an exxageration, but please. They even spoke about how people who take Prozac were more likely to commit suicide than people who take any other antidepressant. I take Prozac on a daily basis! Rats, they caught me. I was gonna off myself just tonight! Ah well, I'll have to wait a little longer.

Case in point, if you watch CNN, you're more boring than I am.

Yupyup. I got my computer officially up and running with two video cards and an old 40 Gig hard drive which I will use for editing together a presentation on making cane syrup during my trip to Alexandria. Yeah, man, I got it goin' on!
