Louisiana Man

Well folks, I’m headed down south to celebrate Turkey Day Redneck style with my country boy relatives. Dunno if I’ll be able to blog much while I’m down there, but I sure as hell hope I can do some English homework online. In the meantime, the day has been nice and calm. No loudmouths blabbing about how computer animation is taking over, no liberals attacking anyone who is pro-war and no meteors falling from the sky. The only problem is that troubling feeling that I’m going to wake up tomorrow at 5:00, do my thing, get to the airport, get on the plane…all alone. And somewhere along the way I’m going to screw up. I’ll just have to keep my eyes peeled though.

Ciao for now y’all

Political blog of the day

Today, I had two political blurbs happen that are worth mentioning. The first was with my U.S. History who is flamingly Liberal. She did happen to mention current policy and inferred that it was damaging to our rights. I asked her that if we compared the current situation with rights infringement (The Patriot Act being a favorite for all Demos to talk about.) After all, she’s a U.S. History teacher. She should know that in WWII, part of our deal for dealing with the Japanese was rounding up all the Japanese and American-Japanese and putting them in those little internment camps. How does that compare to the Patriot Act being harmful to our rights?

Luckily, she was wise enough to admit that we weren’t as bad now as we have been before. Not YET. Me though, I think it’s plain to see that there is no apocalypse going on with the Patriot Act in place. I think it’s the perfect thing that we need for the time being and while it’s not perfect, it sure as hell beats rounding up all the Muslims in the country and putting them into internment camps.

Blurb number 2 for the day occurred in my Astronomy lab class. As I got out my notebook, a guy across from me at my table laughed at my “Viva Bush” sticker. I told him that I’d actually planned to take it off after the election, but if I did it would just look like a huge rip on the front of my binder. But like every other Liberal, he decided to take this opportunity to prey on the “faults” of the Bush administration. He brought up “no WMD’s” and “no links to Al-Qauda.” I plainly refuted both of these points by saying that there was a WMD program and that there were indeed ties. Had he let me go on about that, I would have mentioned how Saddam was trying to lift sanctions in the UN to get WMD’s and how there’s great literature out there that details the connection between Iraq and Al-Qauda spanning across the course of many years (even though I cannot remember the name of the book), but he just denied what I said and went on to the next thing.

He then used what they call in the argumentation world an ad hominum attack. For those of you who don’t know, an ad hominum attack is when you choose to pretty much forget about the current issue and decide to get personal with the guy you’re arguing against. He told me that I obviously watched Fox News and that I was being brainwashed by it. I told him that I get my news from many online sources. I get news from Right-Thinking.com (a brilliant blogsite in which the author cites many sources from all the big news organizations), Liberalforum.org (A place that’s good for arguments and getting some news) and the AIM news (which is, as I’ve already shown on this site, almost a complete joke.) He told me that I should just be careful where I get my news online. Before the class actually started, I told him a little blurb about the current situation in Fallujah. The kill ratio was roughly 50-1. That’s 50 insurgents to 1 American soldier. Sure as hell sounds to me like we’re winning this war and I can’t wait for us to do it.

20 bucks says that this guy worships Michael Moore. For shame.

Yupyup. It's that time during the semester where it all comes up to haunt me. I may lack more posting in the next few days for anyone who appens to read this.

Not again!

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041105/ap_on_el_pr/voting_problems&cid=694&ncid=2043

COLUMBUS, Ohio - An error with an electronic voting system gave President Bush (news - web sites) 3,893 extra votes in suburban Columbus, elections officials said.

Franklin County's unofficial results had Bush receiving 4,258 votes to Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites)'s 260 votes in a precinct in Gahanna. Records show only 638 voters cast ballots in that precinct.

Bush actually received 365 votes in the precinct, Matthew Damschroder, director of the Franklin County Board of Elections, told The Columbus Dispatch.

State and county election officials did not immediately respond to requests by The Associated Press for more details about the voting system and its vendor, and whether the error, if repeated elsewhere in Ohio, could have affected the outcome.

Let me tell you what I did this past election. I got a nice little sample ballot in the mail, looked through it, spent an evening filling it out and went to check with a neighbor about how we both voted in order to help decide on certain measures I didn’t want to vote for. Then I went to the voting booth next evening with my sample ballot, filled out the real ballot and slipped it into that little machine.

These other machines where people just walk up to the screen and press the button didn’t work last time and don’t appear to be working this time. Now, somewhere down the road of the next four years, I’m going to hear whining about how these machines were all part of a grand conspiracy to elect “Emperor Bush” for a second term.

Anyone ready for ousting these machines already? Yeah, I thought so.

Let the conspiracy theories begin

Y’know, It’s been a few days since the election, everything looks good, everything’s calm, my predictions of worms eating people’s eyes out were a bit extreme, but I’m glad that didn’t happen. Then I popped onto the Liberal Forum today and I saw this:

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT BUSH GOT THE PERCENTAGE OF THE VOTES THAT THE MEDIA REPORTS. ALL YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ELECTION RESULTS, YOU HEARD THROUGH THE MEDIA. THE MEDIA COULD HAVE MADE IT ALL UP, AND YOU WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO FACT CHECK. THE ELECTIONS WERE STAGED. THERE WERE NO ELECTIONS TO BEGIN WITH. AMERICA IS NO MORE. BUT IN TIME, GOOD WILL PREVAIL.

OK, so they’re not dealing with it well after all. This dude is dealing with it like a typical lunatic, but I guess he has his free speech right? Right.

Then I see this

Prove to me that the "electronic voting machines", whose manufacturers are all Republican, were 100% reliable. Prove to me that all the reporters in the media are 100% honest, and unbiased. Prove to me that it was just a big coincidence that all those Republican candidates "won" their elections by recieving exactly 18,181 votes each. Prove to me that Kerry and Bush weren't working together. Prove to me that Bush's certainty about the fact that he would "win" the election was not due to the fact that he knew the electronic voting machines were rigged. Prove your "conspiracy theory" that 9/11 was the work of "Al-Qaida" in a court of law before a jury. After you have done this, I might just take you seriously.

Same guy here, folks. Seriously, what did we do? Allow me to reiterate my personal favorite part of this lunatic’s rant: Prove your "conspiracy theory" that 9/11 was the work of "Al-Qaida" in a court of law before a jury.

If there are ANY liberals out there who are still wondering how in the hell Bush won a second time in a row and you just happen to come across this site, let me spell it out for you:

When your ideals happens to match that of certain terrorists
When you go around running the old “Bush is a terrorist” trash into the ground
When you rub elbows with the likes of Michael Moore
When your party only votes for your candidate because he’s not Bush
When your candidate doesn’t have a plan for squat
When you all act shocked to find out that there’s a Republican among you
When you concoct lunatic conspiracy theories to cover up the fact that you lost
When you blame Republicans for EVERYTHING
When you publicly harass the opposition more often than they harass you
When you demand that things be your way, but you don’t know how to do it.
All these things will only hurt your party.

So if you want to win the next time we have a presidential election, wise up. Take reality like a man. I’ve agreed myself that if Kerry won this election, I would support him because he’s my president no matter what… unless he does something drastic of course. Unless you want to see this country get even more divided by pure hatred than it already is, learn to follow the fold.

“V’ is for Victory

“V’ is for Victory

I sincerely hope that the 4 out of 5 terrorists that were against Bush are shitting in their pants for the next four years. I watched the election closely last night with my fingers crossed in a jumble behind my back. And as I saw the red slowly bleed over the map, I’d never realized that it can be such a pretty color. The thirty or so countries that are on our side can breathe a sigh of relief now. Bush is back. Four more years. Can’t wait to see how it goes.

High points of my day

1. My U.S. History teacher nearly replaced today’s lecture with an hour long spin on the events that transpired last night. Now we’ll be facing the biggest debt in the world, but she’ll be laughing her head off at us while my generation deals with it because she’ll be well retired and probably dead by that time.

2. I walked around campus today with a large “Bush/Cheney” sign in my left hand and my trusty video camera in the other to celebrate the Republican victory. It was a popular AND electoral vote this time and their candidate couldn’t take the heat. And even though my campus is overwhelmingly leftist, I’ve never had so much respect from everyone as I saw today.

3. My boss’ primary reason for voting for Kerry was that he had a friend fighting in Iraq and he wanted him out of there. As I waited for the bus with him, he saw a familiar car drive by and his friend driving it. I hadn’t seen him happier in such a long time.

And if that doesn’t convince you that I had a good day today, this will. I got interviewed by the school newspaper about how I felt the election went. That more than makes up for that whole mishap that happened last month. This one had better get in. And if it doesn’t I have it here for the world to see. It’s in Divx, so right click the link below and choose save as.

Enjoy. I know I did.

Let the Fur fly

Well citizens, today’s the day. Today’s the day we all go out to those little booths, cast our two cents and sit back to see if the rest of the country gives a shit about what we think. To be honest, I’m very nervous. It’s the first time I’ve ever voted for the president and right now it doesn’t look like he will win. And I’m not talking about the Redskins either. I’m talking about the Electoral College having more votes for Kerry. At least that’s what I read last night. It could be wrong. All things considered, I hope for a clean election. Something which if Bush is elected may never happen. Riots in the streets, stirring things up…It’ll probably happen. We’ll just have to see.

But until then, bring it on.
